It’s a tale that began with a passion for helping couples build stronger, more fulfilling relationships and has since blossomed into a vibrant community dedicated to sustaining love and nurturing grace-filled marriages.
A Vision Born from Experience
Life Sustained was born out of a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of couples navigating the complexities of relationships. The seeds were sown over eight years ago when my wife, Leslie, and I embarked on a journey of our own, dedicating ourselves to pouring into the lives of couples, both dating and married. Our experiences, both as a couple and as mentors, shaped the foundation of what Life Sustained would become.
However, our journey wasn’t always easy. In the early years of our marriage, we faced challenges that brought us to the brink of divorce. The difficulties we encountered were complex, and we struggled to find the help we needed. Despite seeking advice, we found ourselves in a situation where we didn’t feel comfortable disclosing the full extent of our struggles. The fear of judgment and the weight of our problems made it seem as though we were alone, with no clear path forward.
It was during this time of profound difficulty that we experienced a turning point—Christ became our saving grace. When we felt like our marriage was falling apart, it was our faith that held us together. Through prayer, scripture, and the guidance of our faith, we began to rebuild our relationship on a foundation of grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love. This experience not only saved our marriage but also ignited our passion to help other couples who might be facing similar struggles.
The Birth of Life Sustained
Our work with couples revealed a significant gap in support systems for marriages, especially within faith communities. Many churches offered pre-marital counseling, but there was often little to no follow-up once couples were married. This lack of ongoing support left many couples feeling isolated and unprepared for the inevitable challenges that arise in marriage.
Recognizing this gap, Leslie and I felt called to create something more—a community and resource that would provide continuous support for couples at all stages of their relationship. In 2023, Life Sustained was born, with a mission to empower couples to build lasting, grace-filled relationships through a Christ-centered community, enriching workshops, and personalized coaching.
Building a Foundation of Grace
At the core of Life Sustained is the belief that marriages are meant to be a reflection of God’s grace. We’ve seen firsthand how a grace-filled marriage can weather storms and emerge stronger on the other side. This belief informs everything we do, from the workshops we offer to the coaching sessions we provide. Our goal is to help couples shift from performance-based marriages, where love is conditional and based on merit, to grace-based marriages, where love is unconditional and rooted in faith.
Life Sustained isn’t just about providing tools and resources; it’s about cultivating a mindset that embraces love, forgiveness, and growth. We aim to disciple and shepherd marriages, equipping couples with the skills and support they need to build a solid foundation that will carry them through the ups and downs of life.
